We're not blogging this weekend - I hope to be able to work in the garden if it's not too wet.

Life Is Grand!

Cliff and Olivia gave us this grand blog award - we are sending them a big thank you!

We think life is grand right now because:
1. It's April and spring is our favorite time of year.
2. It's April and the daffodils are starting to bloom.
3. It's April and the days are getting longer.
4. It's April and we can have the windows open again (some of the time, at least).
5. It's April and Mom already finished doing our taxes!



Franklin is giving out awards today, so all the recipients are gray cats. He's passing it on to:

Tortie Tuesday!

Happy Tortie Tuesday! I know this is not a great photo, but I thought it was cute enough to post. That pink thing is Tasha's very large tongue. (Edited later to add: Tasha's friend and fellow super-model, the glamorous Dotty, chose a similar pose today - great minds think alike!)

Re the FAQ post - the only problem Tasha has because of her eye is some difficulty with depth perception. It doesn't slow her down, though she dislikes when I move things within the house. (Her dad doesn't like things to be moved either, so he supports her on this 100%.)

Where does your blog name come from?
My name is Katie, and "Mish" is an old nickname (very long story!).
I found out recently that there are many people with the given name Mishkat. I think it is a traditional Islamic name - correct me if I'm wrong, please
What's up with Tasha's left eye?
Tasha had a bad eye infection when we found her. We were able to treat it with antibiotic pills and eye salve, but she lost most of the sight in one eye. We think she can still see a little light through the eye.

Is Dobby named after the house elf in the Harry Potter books?
We think so. He was named when we adopted him, and since he was already three years old and had lived in two homes, we didn't want to change his name. It suits him!


Is Franklin a Russian Blue?
Not as far as we know! We think he is a plain old Domestic Shorthair (a.k.a. alley cat).

Who are Fletcher and Henry?
Henry (the brown tabby above) and Fletcher (the gray tabby below) were our senior cats that passed away in late 2005 and early 2006. We still miss both of them so much! They were good companions - they moved with me from Virginia to Colorado to Missouri to Ohio, and then back to Virginia, and endured thousands of miles in a cat carrier and in motels with very little complaint.

How long did it take you to write and format this post?
Too long! And I'm still not sure the formatting will display correctly in every browser - my apologies if it looks wonky on your computer.
