Purr-esents! From Dragon House of Yuen

We received a package from Annette of Dragon House of Yuen in Scotland recently, and it was amazing! I took so many photos that I can only fit a fraction of them in this post.

Annette and I have been exchanging packages (not a trade, just informally). I'm almost embarassed to say what I sent her, but part of it looked a little like the photo below. You will see that she uses these in her artwork.
Here is what is the wrapped packages Annette sent looked like. These are almost too pretty to open! There is a package for each cat.

And the (not very good) photo on the left is what was in Dobby's package - a soft sculpture, and an envelope of cards and tags. The soft sculpture's tail is tucked in his (removable) collar for safe mailing, but you can see how she used the selvage spots on the end of his tail.

There were packages like this for each of the cats. The soft sculptures are "baby felines" - Annette's own creation. (Note that these are NOT cat toys - and even if they were, I would not let the cats have them!). She named them Dobshzhe, Francheski, and Tashenka. Notice Tashenka's left eye and the "tortie" tartan that Annette used for her fur - it's truly a portrait sculpture!

Each baby feline has its own story - here is Tashenka's:
And here's what the rest of contents of the envelope looked like in Tasha's package. There were THREE envelopes like this - one for each cat!

There was both a realistic and stylized portrait of each cat in card and tag form in each package - here are the stylized portrait cards lined up.

These are the backs of the cards - amazing!

We think Annette should sell these cards AND the baby felines in her store. We love her rabbit art, but we think her cat art is purrfect!

True story - I was opening these packages and taking photos, and was so enamored with the soft sculptures and cards that I forgot to open the large flat package on the bottom. When I finally remembered, THIS was in it, along with two of Annette's wonderful ACEO's.

This is an original! I honestly had to go sit down after I saw this - as our Welsh friend, Kim, says, I was "gobsmacked"! I knew that Annette was a very talented artist (check out her website here), and that she did wonderful pet portraits, but this is absolutely amazing! Look at this closeup of Dobby's portrait:

And Annette didn't forget the cats - everything was packaged in these special imported Ziploc bags! (Of course, the cats can't have them, but it's the thought that counts).

And I was so gobsmacked that I forgot to take a photo of the ACEO's! You can see one of them here - it's perfect for me. Thank you, Annette!

Dobshzhe, Francheski, Tashenka, and I wish everyone a very happy weekend!

P.S. LOVE the new header!!!

Re your comment about Deli being called 'Tort' or 'Torti', we have never called her that (yet) but Brad and I spend an awful lot of time looking at Tortie pictures online (Tasha, Isabella, Praline and Georgia primarily) and Deli always pops up on the desk as if to say 'Why do you need to look at Torties when I'm right here?'

You might enjoy this Tortie picture site from France (and maybe submit Tasha) http://tortiecats.free.fr/friends01.htm. Just don't let Tasha see you looking...

P.S Re your comment:
You're welcome, Katie! I love that site and I often spend a lot of time browsing the Torties (much to Delilah's dismay)

You're right, écailles means shell so a tortoiseshell in French is an écailles de tortue.

My friend Carol in VA sends her kudos on your blog too. She looks in on you all and loves spending time here.
